A doctor and nurse talk inside the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) at Kaiser Permanente's Capitol Hill Medical Center in Washington, DC. The medical center's common spaces reflect a Total Health Environment design, which creates a therapeutic environment for the ears and eyes. Walls are curved rather than straight to create an organic, natural space. The LCD displays feature health information education - rather than television -- with sound coming from strategically placed speakers over the seating area. All art features images from nature, drawing on research that proves natural images reduce heart rates. The Doctor is Dr. Thomas Tesoriero and the nurse is Rowena Shea.
